Venio was started by two founders, Joel Smalley and Dale Smith. Dale is a working builder. He runs G. L. Smith & Sons, family builders in Hertfordshire, and he has spent over twenty years on the tools.
A homeowner looking for a builder is very unlikely to start on Instagram or TikTok. Those are built for everything else. And a directory of claims and star ratings shows the name, not the work. So we are building a network dedicated to builders and trades, where the work itself is on show as it happens, not a generic feed and not a list of promises.
The hard part of any new network is the cold start: an empty space nobody visits. We solve it with SiteDesk, the back office that builders and trades pay for in its own right. Every job a firm runs through SiteDesk publishes to its page on Venio Network as the work moves along, so the network fills with real jobs as a byproduct of the firms doing their day work. The firm approves every post before it goes up.
